Review of Vacasa booking process & service
Booking a Vacasa vacation rental property in Belize is very easy to do online if you’re paying in dollars or over the phone if you’re using points. The Vacasa website is easy to navigate and you receive emails and texts with notifications about your upcoming stay. What really sets Vacasa apart from other vacation rental platforms is the 24/7 customer support, easy check-in process, and professional cleaning. We feel confident every time we book a Vacasa rental knowing we will have help at any hour if needed.
Our Vacasa concierge Lourdes reached out to us ahead of our trip and asked if we needed help with any reservations or recommendations. She set up a golf car rental for us with Deluxe Golf Cart Rentals, which is highly recommended since only service cars are allowed on the island. Joey picked us up from the airport in San Pedro with our golf cart. He even escorted us to our rental house in Belize and stopped for us to get groceries on the way. Lourdes also gave us lots of suggestions on places to eat and the best beaches to visit. We couldn’t have asked for better service!

Where to stay in San Pedro Belize with Vacasa
We split our time in Belize between the island of Ambergris Caye and inland near San Ignacio, which gave us the best of both worlds. In San Pedro we enjoyed beach time and incredible snorkeling at the Belize Barrier Reef, while our time inland was spent exploring nearby Mayan ruins. We started our trip with the island stay near the town of San Pedro, which is where Madonna sang about in her famous La Isla Bonita hit. You can see why with the views flying in!
We stayed at Lor-E-Lei House, a beautiful new 3-level waterfront home with a private pool, two balconies, and rooftop terrace overlooking Tarpon Bay. What makes this home so great for families is that you can rent one, two, or all three levels, depending on how much space and how many bedrooms you need.
We booked the 2nd level Lor-E-Lei House (click here to book) which has one bedroom, one bathroom, laundry room, living room, and a stunning kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The open concept kitchen and living room have floor to ceiling sliding glass doors showcasing the water view of Tarpon Bay.
We toured the entire house with Eric, the friendly maintenance man who greeted us and showed us how everything worked in the house. If you are a family of four, we recommend renting the 2nd and 3rd levels (book here) and let the kids sleep on level 2 and the parents on level 3. If you have five or six people, book the entire house.
The 3rd level, the Penthouse, has floor to ceiling sliding glass doors in an open bedroom and living room area, which means you can wake up to gorgeous sunrise views over the bay. The bathroom of the Penthouse has a huge shower area with dual high-end shower fixtures.
There’s a large balcony off both levels overlooking the bay, which is where we enjoyed sunsets with a glass of wine. We also scoped out the rooftop terrace for even better sunset and sunrise views!
The first level is a poolside suite with one bedroom, one full bathroom that is separate, and an outdoor shower to rinse off if you get in the pool or bay. There’s a spacious poolside terrace with lounge chairs, outdoor dining table and chairs, and another sitting area with cozy chairs to relax in while enjoying the view.
Where to stay in San Ignacio with Vacasa
After a wonderful 4 nights in San Pedro, we headed inland to explore Mayan ruins. We stayed in the small village of Bullet Tree Falls, which is just 10 minutes from the larger town of San Ignacio. We stayed in the Monkey Suite at Mahogany Hall (click here to book). This boutique luxury resort is situated on the Mopan River and the setting is lush and tropical.
Mahogany Hall has 2 suites that participate in Vacasa. It is the most luxurious vacation rental in the area. This is different from a typical Vacasa rental since you’re renting a suite in a boutique resort, rather than having a home to yourself. Our favorite part of staying here was the peaceful setting and views.
The Monkey Suite has 2 double beds, each with a twin size trundle underneath. It sleeps 6, which makes it a great option for a large family. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and separate shower with a bronze sink. There’s a small table and mini bar area with complimentary filtered water, tea, and coffee. There is also a water cooler in the hallway which allowed us to refill our water bottles before heading out for the day’s adventures. Our room had fresh tropical flower bouquets and flower petals spelling out a welcome message on the bed, which was a nice touch.
Keep in mind that this suite has no kitchen or refrigerator, so you’re not able to do your own cooking unlike a traditional Vacasa. However, the restaurant onsite serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a stunning deck surrounded by tropical vegetation where you can hear the Mopan River rushing about 60 feet away. There’s also a bar area made of beautiful Mahogany wood where you can enjoy a drink.
The breakfast and lunch menu is a la carte, while the dinner menu is 2 options per night that you need to order in advance for $25 USD per person. We had breakfast at the restaurant one morning but all our other meals we ate outside the resort since we were so busy exploring. We enjoyed dining with this view while hearing the relaxing sounds of the river and nature.
Mahogany Hall has a small infinity pool overlooking the river. There are lounge chairs, hammocks, and a fire pit to enjoy the sounds of nature. We loved listening to all the birds singing and the sounds of the tropical rainforest at night. It was incredibly soothing! There are also inter tubes that you can borrow to float down Mopan River, which was fun. I was a little nervous about crocodiles but was reassured that they don’t come to this part of the river.
Last thoughts on staying with Vacasa during our Belize vacation
We are so happy with our choice to book Vacasa during our vacation in Belize. San Pedro and San Ignacio are two of the best places to stay in Belize, and Vacasa has a lot of options in both locations as well as other hot spots in Belize like Placencia, Hopkins, and Caye Caulker.
Vacasa has so many beautiful Belize properties, including beachside homes and condos, riverside vacation rentals, waterfront houses, and more! Vacasa’s Belize vacation house rentals provide excellent value for your money, especially if traveling as a family and needing multiple bedrooms. If you book it with points you can literally rent an entire home for free!
We fell in love with the cultural diversity, friendly and laid back people, diverse landscapes, and historical richness of Belize. We are already trying to figure out when we can return, next time with our kids. Let us know if you book Vacasa in Belize and how it went! Make sure to check out our Belize story highlights on Instagram for videos of each Vacasa property we stayed in, where we ate, and what we did!
