Cancun offers a lot of variety for the foodies outside the all-inclusive resorts. Whether you have refined palettes or are looking for a cheap meal, there are choices for all. We tried a few local places that we can recommend in Cancun for a delicious meal at a good price.
Perico’s
Perico’s offers a nice blend of silly entertainment, cheesy fun, good drinks and yummy food at decent prices. They specialize in traditional Mexican food and drinks and cater to tourists who want an interactive dining experience, which makes it great for families. We had a blast trying out the props and watching the waiters pull pranks on unsuspecting customers. It is a great atmosphere for those looking for a fun and lively lunch or dinner. Our waiter served us margaritas on top of his head, and we may have spotted a guy walking on his arms. 😉
The waiters are always on the prowl to pull fun pranks on unsuspecting diners. Try not to make a scene if a giant spider climbs onto your shoulder. It would most likely be a fake one. When at Perico’s, make sure to order slammers. A nice lady like the one below will serve you some strong shots, blow the whistle and shake your head around to help you drink it. Look how happy Lexi is after drinking her slammer!
There is an area in the restaurant for those looking to dress up in traditional local clothing and get their pictures taken for a souvenir. We tried it and enjoyed the colorful dress, perfect for swirling!
Los Cejas
Another stop worth trying is Los Cejas. It is a popular spot for the locals with a lively atmosphere. They specialize in seafood and the food was tasty with really good prices. Make sure to enjoy some margaritas and a few coronas while in Cancun too!
