How we booked our Singapore Airlines Business Class tickets
We booked our Singapore business class flights less than a month ahead of its scheduled date so couldn’t take advantage of Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Saver awards. Our vacation was a last minute decision, so the Singapore Airlines business class price would have cost us a fortune if we had paid in dollars. A one way ticket from Singapore to JFK in November can set you back $5000+. However, we paid for our flights using 135,000 KrisFlyer miles/pp and only $110.26/pp in taxes. Had we planned our trip further in advance and been able to get the saver awards, we would have only needed to use 92,000 KrisFlyer miles.
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is a transfer partner of American Express, Starwood Preferred Guest (Now Marriott Rewards), Chase and even Citi. This makes Singapore Airlines redemptions some of the easiest to get backed with an excellent customer service and all around flight experience for the world’s best airlines.
Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class Cabin
After a quick stop by the Lufthansa business class lounge, we made our way to the gate. On the plane, our friendly and warm flight attendants greeted us and showed us to our seats.
For our 8hr55min flight, we chose seats 96F & 96D located on the upper deck at the very back of the business class cabin. The seats were bulkhead and had a separate partition in front of us adding privacy. The idea was that if our son got a little antsy, there would be a buffer from the other passengers in the premium cabin. Thankfully he was on his best behavior and loved flying on Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class.
The Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class cabin is on the second floor of the plane. There are steps directly behind the economy cabin leading upstairs to the Singapore Air business class cabin. They were blocked off which gave us added privacy.
Welcome aboard Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class
As soon as we sat down, our beautifully-dressed flight crew brought us wet towels to clean our hands and faces. Our precocious son knew exactly what to do with it, which amused the flight attendant. We also received a Singapore Airlines business class menu and were offered welcome drinks. I declined champagne this time since it was so early in the morning.
Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class seats
Singapore Airlines A380 Business class seats are very comfortable with ample legroom. The seats are in a 1-2-1 configuration with direct aisle access for every seat. The seats are some of the widest for business class and are upholstered in leather. The best part is that the seats convert into a fully-flat bed, making for a great night’s sleep.
Contrary to the 42 seats in the B777, there are a total of 86 business class seats on the A380. Our flight was not in the Singapore Airline new business class cabin, but it was still extremely luxurious. There are no amenity kits, but flight attendants distribute slippers, headphones, socks, eyeshades, and pillows to use during the flight. Pajamas are only provided to passengers in the First Class Cabin.
Inflight entertainment on Singapore A380 Business Class
The KrisWorld inflight entertainment system had an impressive selection of 1,000 options on a 15.4-inch wide LCD screen with noise-cancelling headphones. We could choose from movies, documentaries, music, games, apps, TV shows, and kids shows. Our son was happy with the cartoons and stayed entertained until it was time to sleep again.
I needed to get caught up on work so was thankful for inflight wifi. The inflight WiFi was fast and reliable and cost $20 for 50MB, $13 for 30MB, or $7 for 15MB.
Singapore Airlines Business Class Menu
The Singapore Airlines Business Class menu features dishes by many renown chefs from around the world along with a great selection of wines. With the Book The Cook, passengers in the Business Class cabin can choose at least 24 hours in advance from dishes that are not regularly served on board. We were pleased with our inflight selection and didn’t feel the need to use that perk but it is nice to have that option.
The menu options for our flight from Frankfurt to NYC included buonfatti with spinach filling, beef fillet with café de Paris butter, artichoke-tomato crusted loin of lamb, lamb rendang, suckling pig with beer sauce, bresse chicken with morel polenta, chicken massaman curry, honey glazed duckling, prawn wanton noodles, salmon and Mississippi rice, halibut in lime sauce, and Caesar salad. Flight attendants also brought a tray by with a nice selection of bread, croissants, and toast.
Singapore Airlines Business Class A380 beds
Midway through the flight we requested the flight attendant to make our beds. The seats recline completely flat into comfortable beds, and they bring duvets, mattress pads, linens and extra pillows. Since we were in bulkhead seats we had extra legroom and were able to sleep soundly in our cozy beds.
Checking out the Singapore Airlines A380 First Class Suite
Upon arrival in NYC, we decided to check out a Singapore Airlines First Class suite. Months prior we had booked flights in a Singapore Airlines First Class Suite but ended up cancelling that vacation for family reasons. The crew was kind enough to give us a tour of the First Class in Singapore Airlines A380. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to review the new Singapore Airlines first class as soon as our schedules allow it.
Singapore Airlines Customer Service
The Singapore Airline flight attendants impressed us with their consistently professional, warm, and outstanding service. During our flight, our son was pampered by the crew to the point I hardly had to worry about him. They gave him toys, treats, and showered him with attention. The crew on the FRA – JFK flight and the SIN – FRA were excellent with kids, friendly and took charge as soon as we stepped on board. We couldn’t have asked for better service.
Last Words on our Singapore Airlines Business Class Review A380
Our flight on Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class was outstanding from start to finish. Our bulkhead seats at the back of the business class cabin were extra spacious with more legroom for a giant like me. The flight attendants took great care of us, especially our son who they spoiled with toys and goodies to keep him happy throughout the long flight. We thought the food was delicious and appreciated the nice selection of drinks and meals. After 2 exceptional flights in Singapore Airlines Business Class, we fully understand why this airline consistently ranks at the top and is currently the world’s best airline.
