Flying Lufthansa first class from Washington Dulles to Frankfurt was an unforgettable experience for our 10 year anniversary celebration that began with a relaxing visit to the Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Washington Dulles. When we landed in Frankfurt we continued to be impressed by the luxurious Lufthansa First Class lounges in Frankfurt. We’ve heard that Lufthansa’s first class lounge in Frankfurt is one of the best first class lounges in the world, and we would have to agree. We’ve been fortunate to visit some amazing lounges including Emirates First Class Lounges in NYC and Dubai, and Etihad Premium Lounge in Abu Dhabi, and this lounge equally blew our minds. We first visited the lounge in the terminal we were flying out of which was a short walk through the airport. After snapping some photos and having a small snack and champagne, we decided to walk over to the Lufthansa First Class Terminal to check out that lounge as well since from there we could enjoy limousine service directly to the tarmac. A very kind lounge employee escorted us all the way to the First Class Terminal, which was a blessing because it involved going outside and going back through security, and we may have never found it in time without her help. The two lounges were similar in style and food selection, but it was nice to experience both. We were blown away by the bar and drink menu with its extensive selection of alcoholic drinks (see the full menu below). We had a glass of champagne and a bite to eat in the first lounge and then ordered Weiner schnitzels in the second lounge as recommended by the staff. As you can see from the photos, there were many different seating options including plush leather chairs, reclining chairs, tables for dining, and even private little offices for those needing to get some work done. They even had little private rooms with beds for those wanting to get some quality sleep, but we were too excited to explore the lounges to sleep. The bathrooms had showers and bathtubs, robes, slippers, and pretty tubes of toiletries in case you forgot to bring yours along. We felt very relaxed and pampered in the beautiful Lufthansa first class lounges in Frankfurt. Allow us to take you on a photo tour and you’ll see why all the hype is well-deserved.
Now for our favorite part about visiting airport lounges-the food and drinks! We arrived in the morning so the first lounge had breakfast on the buffet but then switched it over after we arrived so we were able to see the lunch selection as well. Like I mentioned before, we walked over to the First Class Terminal lounge where we ordered a freshly prepared weiner schnitzel just in time to board our flight with full happy stomachs. Here’s a look at the food offered in the two Lufthansa first class lounges we visited in Frankfurt.
Here are photos of the menus at the First Class lounges in Frankfurt for the breakfast and lunch buffet and specials, as well as the enormous drink menu with an alcohol selection beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. We had a glass of champagne so didn’t even order a cocktail, but looking back I’m kicking myself for not trying something different from the most impressive bar at an airport lounge we’ve ever visited. We hydrated ourselves with a delicious fruit smoothie and hot cup of tea before boarding our next flight since we didn’t want to overindulge and then feel crummy on the flight.
After some wonderful food and drinks in the lounge, it was time for our private chauffeur escort directly to the tarmac. We were giddy with excitement since this was something we’d never experienced before- being driven directly to the plane. We were escorted down to the garage where the beautiful shiny black Mercedes-Maybach S600 waited for us. The inside of the $200,000 car was very luxurious with massaging chairs and we felt like kids on Christmas morning, bubbling with joy. Bertaut is a luxury car fanatic so he was practically drooling, but I was also thrilled to be riding in such a fancy car. Our driver was kind enough to snap some photos of us in front of the plane. At that moment we had to pinch ourselves because we were living the dream – traveling like millionaires. Shhh don’t tell anybody that we only paid $39/person plus points to fly first class on Lufthansa and experience all this luxury for less! We were on to the next part of our adventure- traveling to Budapest to kick off a three week whirlwind tour of Eastern Europe and discovering countries we’d never visited. Keep coming back for more about that adventure!
