Conrad Hong Kong Review: WTA Score
How we booked our stay at Conrad Hong Kong for free
We were able to stay 3 nights for free at Conrad Hong Kong, saving our family about $3,000 in US dollars or $23, 320 in HK dollars. We visited between Christmas and New Year’s so the cash rates were high during our stay, but we were able to use our Hilton award nights to pay literally zero dollars. You can earn Hilton award nights through certain Hilton credit cards such as the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card and Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card.
After spending $15K on the card in one calendar year, you earn a Hilton weekend night award that can be used at the Conrad Hong Kong or any Hilton property (such as the Conrad Bora Bora Nui) at the standard redemption rate (80,000 Hilton Honors points). Although the free nights are supposed to be redeemed only on weekends, we’ve had some luck redeeming them on weeknights depending on the agent who is booking our stay.
Warm welcome at Conrad Hong Kong
We received an extremely warm welcome at Conrad Hong Kong. As Hilton Diamond members, we had access to the Executive Lounge on the 59th floor. We were able to check in there while enjoying some food and drinks and the fantastic view of Victoria Harbour.
We arrived after a red eye flight early in the morning, hours before standard check-in time. Our suite was not available yet, but they allowed us to use a different room in the meantime to get some sleep before we started our day of exploring Hong Kong. We really appreciated the kind gesture, especially with kids who would have been very cranky without some rest before sightseeing. We were impressed right from the start by the exceptional customer service at Conrad Hong Kong. The kids received Conrad teddy bears and the staff were warm and welcoming toward our children. We were relieved by the kid-friendly atmosphere, which is not always the case at fine luxury hotels.
Conrad Twin Executive Harbour Suite
We booked a standard room with our free weekend night awards. As Hilton Diamond members, we were upgraded at check-in to this beautiful twin executive harbour suite with views of Victoria Harbour and Victoria Peak. The suite was spacious at 80 square meters with a separate living room, full bathroom, half bathroom, and bedroom with 2 beds.
The suite is supposed to sleep 3 people, but we stayed as a family of 4 with no problem. The living room had floor to ceiling windows allowing us to take in the gorgeous views from any angle. The living room had a desk area with a telephone, outlets, adjustable lamp, ergonomic desk chair, and high speed internet which allowed us to get some work done.
Our suite bedroom had two beds to sleep all 4 of us comfortably, so I’m not sure why they say they sleep 3 people. Their website calls them twin beds, but they were definitely larger than twin beds by American standards. They were the equivalent of double beds.
Other room amenities included an LCD flat screen TV with cable, dresser, coffee maker, tea making facilities, mini bar, safe, black out curtains, ironing board, alarm clock, and newspaper delivered daily. The enormous windows continued into the bedroom allowing us to enjoy the views first thing in the morning.
The spacious marble bathroom had a long dual sink vanity with ample space for toiletries. There was a separate bathtub and shower, which was ideal for our family. We prefer to shower while the kids love to play in the bathtub. Housekeeping left rubber duck toys for the kids which they had fun playing with in the tub.
The toilet was separate, another feature that we really appreciated for privacy as a traveling family. There was also a phone mounted on the wall next to the toilet in case of any emergencies.
The bathroom had a TV on the wall, hair dryer, bathrobes, slippers, and Conrad’s signature Shanghai Tang Mandarin Tea bath products. The bath amenities included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and soap that smelled like a combination of mandarin, grapefruit, green tea and jasmine.
We learned afterwards that you can choose from 3 different bath amenities at every Conrad hotel, so next time we’ll ask to try the other options and decide which we like the best. We love hotels that allows guests to personalize their bath amenities. It’s another example of Conrad’s outstanding customer service. There was also a small bottle of mouthwash, dental kit, shower cap, and other helpful bath amenities in the drawer seen below like cotton swabs.
Our suite had a half bathroom at the entrance which was extremely convenient traveling as a family with young children.
Executive Lounge Access
The Conrad Hong Kong Executive Suites include Executive Lounge access. Another way to access the Executive Lounge without booking a suite is through Hilton elite status. I earned Hilton Diamond status, the top tier elite status, through my Hilton Aspire credit card by American Express.
The Executive Lounge at Conrad Hong Kong is outstanding and absolutely worth upgrading to have it included in your stay. The Executive Lounge provides a complimentary breakfast buffet (this was prior to Covid so I’m not sure what the current status is), afternoon tea with sweets, evening cocktails and appetizers, and non alcoholic drinks throughout the day.
The view alone is worth the upgrade and the happy hour every evening was a highlight of our stay. The staff poured champagne generously and were quick to refill glasses. A buffet of hot and cold dishes included Chinese cuisine and American fare including egg rolls, pizza, soup, salads, charcuterie, cheese, breads, fruit, desserts, and more. The offerings varied each day, which meant we were able to try a variety of delicious food during our 3 night stay.
Breakfast offerings included fruit, yogurt, breads, cereals, scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, sausage, bacon, pancakes, hashbrowns, hardboiled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, baked bean, congee, dumplings, and so much more. We loved being able to try Asian breakfast staples in addition to standard American fare that our kids were familiar with and would eat.
Conrad Hong Kong Restaurants
Conrad Hong Kong has 6 restaurants and bars as well as 24-hour room service. We enjoyed breakfast in the Executive Lounge on the day of arrival, but opted for breakfast in the main restaurant for the remaining days of our stay. We enjoyed a daily complimentary breakfast buffet (as Hilton Diamond members) at the Garden Cafe on the lower lobby level.
The buffet was one of the biggest we’ve seen and featured a variety of Asian, American, and European fare. The breakfast buffet included fresh fruit, cheese, yogurt, cereal, pastries, breads, scrambled eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, steamed tomatoes, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, breakfast meats, congee, dumplings, wontons, noodles, steamed buns, rice, dim sum, boiled eggs, and so much more. There were made to order stations for omelettes and Asian fare. We took several photos to show the variety of food at Garden Cafe for breakfast. The kids got a kick out of adorable steamed buns that looked like piglets. We all found plenty of options to fill up on before sightseeing.
We didn’t dine at any other Conrad Hong Kong restaurants but snapped a photo of Golden Leaf which is near the Garden Cafe. This award-winning restaurant serves Cantonese cuisine in a beautifully decorated environment featuring traditional Chinese-style carved teakwood and rosewood furniture and antique art.
The Lobby Lounge serves wine, cocktails, all-day snacks, Curry Tiffin Lunch Buffet, afternoon tea, supper buffet, and a weekend carvery and champagne lunch buffet. The lobby lounge also offers live evening entertainment making it a great spot to end the day.
Fitness Center & Pool
The Conrad Hong Kong offers a 24-hour fitness center, outdoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool.
During our stay, the outdoor whirlpool was unfortunately not hot but lukewarm. We spoke to the pool attendant and a team came to look at it, but were unable to fix it while we were enjoying the pool. When we returned to our room later that night, a bottle of champagne and treats with a letter from the manager waited for us, apologizing for the inconvenience.
We were completely surprised and throughly enjoyed the bubbly! They even brought us glasses of orange juice, presumably because we had been drinking mimosas during happy hour in the Executive Lounge. This hotel’s personalized service and attention to detail stand out as one of their strengths.
Last thoughts on Conrad Hong Kong
We were highly impressed by Conrad Hong Kong and recommend this hotel for families or business travelers. We were blown away by the personalized service from all the staff we encountered. The Executive Lounge was phenomenal with the evening happy hour and harbor views. We always list the goods and bads of each hotel we visit, but it was honestly hard to think of anything bad about this hotel. The location in the business district may not be ideal for families there for sightseeing, although the MTR is easy to access and the ferries are nearby to head across the harbor. We would not hesitate to stay here again the next time we are in Hong Kong. Another option that we highly recommend is the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, which also boasts outstanding service and an amazing club lounge with harbor views.
