Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of The World (SLH) recently shared some exciting news. World of Hyatt members will be able to enjoy loyalty benefits, earn and redeem points at participating SLH properties by year’s end. Furthermore, stays at participating SLH properties will count towards World of Hyatt tier status by booking through Hyatt channels. While the details are still fresh and without specifics, we can only speculate that the partnership could be similar to the one Hyatt has with MGM Resorts MLife in Las Vegas. As Hyatt Globalists and fans of small luxury hotels, the Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World partnership is music to our ears. The partnership will expand Hyatt’s global footprint and provide Hyatt members with additional luxury hotel options in locations where Hyatt does not have any resorts.

What is the Small Luxury Hotels of The World program?
The Small Luxury Hotels of The World™ is a global luxury brand with a collection of over 500 independently owned hotels. SLH is particularly appealing to those guests who value one-of-a kind experiences, personalized services and boutique hotels. SLH has a 3-tier loyalty program: Invited, Inspired and Indulged. Perks for Invited members include early check-in, late check-out, free wi-fi, free daily continental breakfast, and exclusive promotions. Inspired members also get an SLH birthday gift and a one-category room upgrade if available at check-in. Indulged members get all that plus invite only events and a reward night voucher. These perks are very similar to Hyatt Globalist perks, which have saved us so much money and elevated our experiences at Hyatt properties.
Why is the Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World Partnership exciting news?
The partnership will allow World of Hyatt members to tap into the more than 500 unique properties under the Small Luxury Hotels of The World™ family. Hyatt does not currently have any properties in Iceland, which is one of the most popular countries to visit. Under this partnership, World of Hyatt members would be able to accrue and redeem points in unique luxury hotels in the Maldives, Iceland, exotic destinations in the Indian Ocean, Australia and even French Polynesia! While it remains to be seen which specific SLH properties will participate, this is great news!
How does the Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World Partnership benefit luxury travel in Iceland?
We’ve visited Iceland twice and absolutely love the country. However, luxury accommodation is limited and very expensive. Since there are no Hyatt properties in Iceland, travel hackers like us have limited options for saving money on luxury hotels. With this partnership between Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World, we see new possibilities.
Hotel Ranga, the only 4-star hotel in South Iceland is part of the Small Luxury Hotels family. We loved staying there during our summer visit to Iceland. Read our Hotel Ranga review for all the details on this unique small luxury hotel in South Iceland. If Hotel Ranga chooses to participate in the partnership, this could give us more reason to return!
What does this mean for programs like The Leading Hotels Of The World (LHW)?
Leading Hotels of the World is another program with more than 375 participating high end boutique resorts and hotels. As Unlimited members of the Leading Hotels Of The World , we’ve saved thousands of dollars worth of hotel redemptions at 5-stars hotels. Read this post about how we stayed in a $1900/night suite at Le Sirenuse in Positano for free. With news of this partnership, could other luxury niche programs consider joining larger brands and make their properties available for redemption? We sure hope so!
Last words on Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World Partnership
We are curious to get more details on this partnership over the course of the next few months. The prospect of earning World of Hyatt points by staying at unique SLH properties and redeeming them at properties such as Andaz Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica, Park Hyatt Maldives, or Park Hyatt Dubai is exciting!
