Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi are a reflection of the city: modern, sophisticated, and luxurious. There are 5 towers which are home to private residences, a Jumeirah hotel, 12 restaurants offering food from around the world, luxury stores, and business offices. The towers are a landmark of Abu Dhabi and provide a panoramic view of the city and Arabian Sea. Luxury shoppers will be thrilled to find designer boutiques, haute couture, fine jewelry and watches, and even a gourmet food store to satisfy their every whim. If the towers look familiar to you, then you probably saw the movie Fast and Furious 7. The famous scene where Dom and Brian steal a $3.4 million supercar Lykan HyperSport and then crash it through 3 towers, well that was filmed at Etihad Towers (with a lot of CGI of course). Since Bertaut is a huge fan of sports cars and the Fast and Furious movies, we couldn’t visit Abu Dhabi without checking out the Etihad Towers. He is drooling in the photo above with a Lamborghini Aventator (which was parked at Emirates Palace in their VIP parking area) with the Etihad Towers behind him. Etihad Towers are located right across the street from the luxurious Emirates Palace, so it makes sense to visit them together. When you visit, you will most likely see some luxury cars when the high rollers roll in. 😉 We saw a Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, and some Lamborghinis when we visited Etihad Towers. So if you have a thing for fast luxurious cars, then Etihad Towers should be on your list of things to see in Abu Dhabi. By the way, did you know that Abu Dhabi police have their own collection of expensive cars? The list includes Nissan GT-R, a Chevrolet Camaro SS, Rolls-Royce Phantom, and a Lykan HyperSport (hopefully not the one seen crashing through the Etihad Towers). The Dubai Police fleet have an equally impressive collection which includes a Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, Bentley Continental, Mercedes G63AMG, Lexus RCF, McLaren MP4-12C, Aston Martin One-77, Audi R8, Lambourghini Aventator, and Ferrari FF. So don’t speed in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, because you won’t be able to outrun the police with their fast and furious cars!
If fine dining, luxury shopping, or drooling over sports cars is on your agenda in Abu Dhabi, you will want to visit Etihad Towers. The observation deck alone attracts many people because it has some of the best views of the city. Make sure to check out nearby Emirates Palace and Heritage Village when you are in the area to get a taste of Arabian culture and the city’s Bedoin past. Definitely don’t miss the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque when in Abu Dhabi, which was the highlight of our time in the Middle East!
