After an incredible visit to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, we flew home on Etihad Airways in Business Class from Abu Dhabi to Washington DC (flight review coming next), which allowed us access to the Etihad Premium Lounge in Abu Dhabi’s airport. The main lounge was extremely impressive with its vast selection of food and drinks and its treatment spa, nail spa, barber shop and salon. There’s even a children’s area which would have been a life saver if we had been traveling with our two energetic preschoolers, but they were home with family for this vacation that included a week in the Maldives.
As Business Class customers, we were each able to enjoy one complimentary 15 minute treatment from Six Senses Spa. The regular options included a back massage, foot massage, hand massage, pressure point massage, realignment massage, eye retreat facial, face radiance facial, or reiki session. They were also offering a Back and Legs Energizer special option while we were there which is what we both chose, and we walked out of that massage room feeling relaxed and ready for our flight home.
First Class customers are also able to choose one complimentary treatment from the barber and salon Style & Shave, but Business Class customers can opt to pay for those treatments.
There are many options for seating including comfortable modern white couches, desk areas in the Business Center, and tables for dining.
The food selection was as impressive as the Emirates Lounge in NYC with a vast array of hot breakfist dishes, fresh fruit, yogurt, spreads, bread, and desserts. We had already eaten breakfast earlier that morning in our hotel Park Hyatt Dubai, so we weren’t very hungry but opted for a light snack just to sample the offerings. Everything we tasted was delicious. There was also a nice selection of beverages including fresh fruit juices, soda, bottled water, coffee, tea, and a full bar that was well-stocked with liquor, wine, beer, and champagne. We weren’t quite ready for any alcohol yet at that time in the morning so waited for our champagne onboard the flight.
After clearing US Customs and Immigration we waited in a smaller Etihad U.S. Premium Lounge inside Abu Dhabi airport, which had a smaller selection of sandwiches, snacks and drinks both non-alcoholic and from the bar.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Etihad Premium Lounge and Etihad U.S. Premium Lounge in Abu Dhabi, especially the free mini massages. The decor was elegant, the seating areas were comfortable, and the food and drinks were plentiful. It was the perfect way to get a long flight off to a great start and help relieve some of the sadness from that dreaded feeling of vacation being over and returning to work once home.
