After a mind-blowing First Class flight on Emirates Airbus A380 and an exhilarating day in Milan checking out the Duomo di Milano and Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper, we were ready for the next leg of our journey to the Maldives. We relaxed in the Emirates Lounge prior to our flight to Dubai and are happy to share with you some photos of our pleasurable experience there with some culinary delights. The lounge is accessible to Emirates Business and First class passengers as well as Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members departing on an Emirates flight, plus one guest. We were getting ready to fly First Class on Emirates Boeing 777 to Dubai, so we were able to access the lounge pre-flight. It was very similar to the Emirates lounge in NYC’s JFK Airport, but with some traditional Italian specialities, including one of my favorite liqueurs: Limoncello. If you’ve never tried it, you’ve been missing out and should find some now. It’s like lemonade with a kick.
The lounge had a large selection of magazines for browsing and a tranquil fountain when you first walk in to help take some of the stresses of traveling off your mind. It offered plenty of seating areas with comfortable leather chairs and couches, TV’s, and an office area with computers, Internet, and a printer for any last minute business needs.
The bathrooms were spacious, beautiful and spotless with granite counters and showers. They also provide an ablution area for washing feet prior to prayer for Muslims, as well as a prayer room.
Now on to my favorite part of the lounges: the food and drinks! The lounge had a well-stocked self-serve bar with a quality selection of liquor, wine, and champagne with some light snacks such as nuts, olives, and dates. They also had mini-fridges with a selection of chilled sodas, water, juices, and beer.
In addition to the light snacks, the lounge served a full buffet of hot dishes and an assortment of chilled appetizers and desserts. We sampled a few appetizers before our light and were impressed as usual by Emirate’s ability to consistently deliver excellent food, whether on ground or in air.
There was a delicious cream of carrot and ginger soup, fresh baked breads, and spreads.
After enjoying some wine, limoncello, and a few mouthwatering appetizers, it was time to board our flight to Dubai directly from the lounge, which is a nice perk. Arrivederci, buon viaggio! If I am flying first from JFK to MXP but then getting on a connection flight to Ibiza on a different air line but my layover is very long (like 8 hours) will I still be able to use the Emirates lounge?
Hey Chaz, Emirates is pretty strict with their lounge access. Upon entry, you’ll need to provide your boarding pass. Since you are not flying with them on your way to Ibiza, they may not let you through. Priority Access if you have it might be an option! 😉
