We flew to Los Angeles in 2006 for my birthday weekend, which happens to be Cinco de Mayo, to visit my brother and sister-in-law who were living in Redondo Beach at the time. We were much younger newlyweds and had less in our traveling budget, so it helped to be able to stay with my brother and not have to spend on a hotel. Lucky for us, his home was within walking distance to the beach, so we took a stroll our first morning there to explore the area. We walked along the beach with the seagulls, watched the surfers catching the waves, took photos of the beautiful flowers along the way, and just enjoyed the California sunshine and Pacific Ocean breezes. The weather was perfect!
For my birthday, we drove to some nearby towns and found a great little Mexican restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. California offers much more authentic Mexican food than typically found on the East Coast, so we enjoyed a delicious lunch and some margaritas for Cinco de Mayo. For my gift, my brother treated us to Jay Leno’s stand-up show at The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. It was a wonderful evening full of laughs and delicious cocktails. My brother also drove me around on his motorcycle to show me the beautiful homes in the area along the gorgeous coast. Thanks big bro for the memorable birthday!
During our visit, we wondered upon a classic car show with some beautiful American vehicles on display. Bertaut and my brother are really into cars so they had fun checking out the classics and snapping some photos.
We enjoyed our weekend in Redondo Beach with family soaking up some Calfornia sun, exploring the beautiful coast, meandering the beach, and getting in some laughs with Jay Leno. Next time we are in the area, we would like to visit Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Do you have any recommendations for the LA area?
