Bora Bora is famous as a romantic couples destination, but it has become quite popular to visit Bora Bora with kids. For family Bora Bora holidays, you will want to stay somewhere that is kid-friendly and has plenty to do for families. We stayed at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui and were impressed with how many family-friendly activities and amenities the resort offered. Discover why we think the Conrad Bora Bora Nui is the best place to stay in Bora Bora with kids.
Bora Bora on a Budget: Using points to save thousands of dollars
If you’re traveling as a family, you know how expensive it can get to fly your entire family to an exotic destination, shell out hundreds of dollars per night on accommodation, and then hundreds more per day on food. We are all about luxury travel without the luxury price, and were excited to use our travel hacking expertise to stay at the Conrad Bora Bora for free using points.
This luxurious 5-star Bora Bora resort is a Hilton property and can be booked for 80,000 points per night for a standard room, which costs $800 or more per night. We took advantage of Hilton Honor’s 5th night free promotion and redeemed 400,000 Hilton points for 6 nights. As Hilton Diamond members, we were upgraded to a Garden Villa for our first night and then upgraded again to a Beach Pool Villa for the rest of our stay, which costs $1,400 or more per night. The total cost of our stay after taxes and fees would have been over $10,000, but we paid nothing for our villa. Even resort fees are waived on award stays at Hilton properties. As Hilton Diamond members, we also received free breakfast, which saved us even more.
What families will love at Conrad Bora Bora Nui
The resort has so many activities that are fun for children and families to experience together. What’s even better is that the majority of activities are complimentary for resort guests. We’ve stayed at resorts where they nickel and dime you for every little thing, but not here. There’s plenty of included activities at the resort to keep everyone entertained for days.
Zero entry pool with loungers and free cabanas
The Conrad Bora Bora pool is absolutely gorgeous and overlooks the beach and lagoon. This zero entry pool is perfect for families with young kids who can easily wade into the water on the gradual slope, just like at the beach. There are lounges in the pool so parents can relax and gaze out at the breathtaking views while their kids splash around in the pool.
There’s also plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas on the pool deck. They have a handful of luxurious cabanas that are free and available on a first-come-first-serve basis, which is great for families. I was able to take a break from the pool in the plush cabana while the kids swam.
At the pool activity desk you can borrow snorkel masks, flippers, pool floats, and life jackets to use in the pool or ocean. They also have complimentary reef-safe sunscreen, aloe vera gel, cold water, and of course pool towels.
Bikes to explore island
Our kids have tons of energy and need to find ways to expel it every day. They absolutely love riding bikes and were thrilled to find bikes their size at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui to ride around the resort during our stay. The bikes are free to use and you can keep them for as long as you like.
The hotel has bikes for adults as well as kids bikes with training wheels so even young kids can enjoy pedaling around the property. If we couldn’t find a bike their size, they hopped on Daddy’s bike.
Mini Golf & Tennis Court
One of our kids’ favorite activities at the resort was playing putt putt on the mini golf course. We took part in the mini golf challenge, which occurs on Fridays, and won a beach bag. For those who are really good at mini-golf, top prizes include free drinks and even a massage. We can’t imagine a mini golf course with a better view either!
There’s also a tennis court at the resort, which is another great opportunity for some family competition. Our son loved playing tennis and had some one on one time with Daddy while his sister played in the pool with Mommy.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is one of the top things to do in Bora Bora, and it is a great activity for kids to enjoy. Guests can borrow snorkeling equipment from the activity desk at the pool for no charge, and there’s no time limit for use of the equipment. They also have kid-sized life jackets so you don’t have to worry about safety while snorkeling if your kids aren’t the best swimmers.
A fellow traveler gave us a helpful tip to grab some bread from the breakfast buffet and use it to feed the fish while snorkeling. What an expert tip! The fish went crazy for the bread crumbs and hundreds swam up to us to get a bite. Make sure to bring an underwater camera or a waterproof case for your cell phone to capture photos and videos of the snorkeling. The kids were squealing in delight while feeding the fish.
Kid’s Club
We love when luxury hotels offer a kid’s club, and it’s even better when it is complimentary. The Conrad Bora Bora Nui hit the mark with a free kid’s club. It entertains children with a playground, movies, video games, crafts, games, and telescope for stargazing.
Unfortunately, the staff member who works at the Kid’s Club was sick during our stay, so it was not supervised. However, the fantastic staff at the activities desk offered to watch our kids there for awhile so we could enjoy a little time to ourselves. The kids watched Moana while we enjoyed some time as a couple.
Boats and Sailing Tours
Our kids love being in or on the water and never pass up a boat ride. The resort has a selection of kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and paddle boats that are free for guests to use. We tried out the kayaks and paddle boats and had fun exploring the lagoon. Even though we took a kayak meant for two people, we were able to fit 3 of us since our kids are small enough. The paddle boats were perfect for our family of four to all ride together, although the kids did more relaxing than paddling.
The resort also provides complimentary tours on their Hobie Cat, which was quite an adventure. We were able to go out twice and the kids were smiling ear to ear while speeding through the lagoon on the catamaran. We started moving so fast that we tipped up on one side and had to hang on! It was so exhilarating and fun.
Cultural activities
We like to teach our kids about local culture and traditions whenever we travel, so were happy to see cultural activities on the resort agenda. Conrad Bora Bora Nui activities are offered by the pool or at the kids club on rainy days and include things like learning how to open a coconut like a local, traditional French Polynesian dances, how to speak Tahitian, how to tie a pareo and more. Our kids got to help open a coconut, carve out its delicious fruit, and make coconut milk.
Making friends at the activity desk
They also got to help hand out items at the activity desk, which they thought was the coolest thing ever. The staff at the activity desk were incredibly kind and warm towards our kids and other kids staying at the resort. This made a huge impact on our stay because we felt 100% welcome. Some luxury resorts are not kid-friendly, and its always awkward staying somewhere you feel like your whole family is not welcome. The staff at the Conrad made us feel right at home.
Our kids made so many friends at the resort that we’ve stayed in touch with since our Bora Bora vacation. We were relieved to see other families with young children since our kids had friends to play with while we made new friends with their parents. We were happy to see so many other families in Bora Bora, specifically at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui.
Welcome gift for kids and parents
Our kids were thrilled to receive a welcome gift. A bag of candy and marshmallow pig was waiting in the room for them upon arrival. The resort also left a bottle of orange juice to quench their thirst, and some wine for us. Gestures like that make a big impression.
Golf carts to get around easily
When traveling with kids, it can be difficult to get around large resorts. Kids whine about how far they have to walk and you’re carrying around a ton of stuff in your beach bag. We appreciated the golf carts to take us to different areas of the resort. Sometimes we didn’t want to ride bikes, like when we were dressed up for dinner. So we hopped on a golf cart for a quick and entertaining ride. The kids think riding in golf carts is a lot of fun especially when they get to sit in front.
Last thoughts on visiting Conrad Bora Bora with Kids
We had an incredible Bora Bora family vacation. We highly recommend staying at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui if your Bora Bora holidays include children. From welcome gifts for kids to a kids club, mini golf, kid-sized bikes and more, there are so many ways that the resort caters to families. What’s the most important in our opinion is how welcome we felt by the staff who went out of their way to make our stay amazing. Our kids said this was their favorite vacation, thanks largely to the friendly staff, fun things to do, and all the new friends they made. We are already planning a return trip because we all loved it so much.
