We flew Cathay Pacific Business Class from Hong Kong to New York just before the pandemic, giving us lounge access at HKG. We also flew Cathay Business from Dubai to Hong Kong, but lounge access is not available upon arrival. The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Business Class Lounge was fantastic. Since Hong Kong is its hub, Cathay Pacific has 3 business class lounges at the airport. We visited The Wing, which is Cathay Pacific’s flagship lounge, and definitely recommend making time to experience the lounge before your flight. This stunning lounge is recognized as one of the best airport lounges in the world, so allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy it. During the pandemic the business class lounge has been closed but the First class section of The Wing is open to all passengers with lounge access. Keep in mind that we visited prior to the pandemic, so we aren’t sure how the lounge will be different once it opens up again.
Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Business Class Lounge
The lounge is located in Terminal 1 at HKG near gates 1-4. This was extremely convenient for our flight, which allowed us to enjoy the lounge up until a few minutes before boarding time. The lounge is wide open allowing guests to watch planes come and go from the 24 meter The Long Bar. Even our kids were allowed to sit at the bar and order Shirley Temples, which made their day. They were toasting each other with their fancy mocktails and couldn’t believe that they were allowed to sit at the bar.
The beverage and wine list at The Wing was quite impressive. In fact, I’ve never seen such an extensive drink menu at an airport lounge. I tried a Lychee Bellini which was delicious. If we had arrived earlier I could’ve gotten myself into trouble with that cocktail menu. 😂
The Wing Amenities
The lounge has an upstairs and a downstairs, but we spent all our time upstairs to enjoy the best views and amenities. The downstairs area has IT workstations, couches, and chairs.
There are a variety of seating options including cozy leather chairs, work areas with tables, and really unique seats that were kind of like private booths that our kids loved.
At the Noodle Bar, the seating feels like an actual bar. The bamboo decoration gives it a fresh and calming aesthetic.
Dining Options
The Noodle Bar serves up made to order noodles, which our daughter thought was pretty cool. There was also a buffet area with a variety of Asian dishes.
There was also a self-serve area with Western fare including juice, soda, water, beer, sandwiches, fruit, salad, and sweet treats like brownies. We nibbled on some food from here but preferred the Noddle Bar.
Coffee lovers will want to swing by The Coffee Loft, offering handcrafted coffee drinks and fresh baked pastries. It was serving similar fare as what was being offered at the self-serve area during our visit, so we didn’t order anything from there. We aren’t coffee drinkers or else we would have ordered a cappuccino or latte.
Cathay Pacific Lounge Shower Suites
The lounge has 24 shower suites to freshen up on a long layover. The shower suites had Jurlique toiletries, hair dryers, and other amenities that you might need like cotton swabs, shower caps, and makeup remover.
The Wing had a huge magazine and newspaper display area with dozens of options for reading. I’ve never seen such a vast array of complimentary magazines in an airport lounge.
Last thoughts on Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge at Hong Kong- The Wing
The Wing really impressed us for a business class lounge. It’s not surprising though that Cathay Pacific went above and beyond for their flagship lounge at their hub airport. If we hadn’t been traveling with the kids, we might have checked out the other Cathay Pacific Business Class lounges at Hong Kong International Airport. But we were content staying put and exploring the fantastic amenities at The Wing. We hope the lounge is able to open again soon as travel picks back up and more and more people are getting vaccinated for Covid-19.
