We flew Singapore Airlines Business Class 777 from Hong Kong to San Francisco during our around the world trip that included time in Oman, the Maldives, and Hong Kong. We flew Singapore Airlines Business Class from the Maldives to Singapore on the A330, Singapore to Hong Kong on the A350, and were excited to experience the Singapore 777 Business Class to review yet another plane from the Singapore Airlines fleet. Bertaut had in fact already flown Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER Business Class with our son from Singapore to Frankfurt on our way home from a family trip to Japan and Singapore. However, this was my first time in Singapore 777 Business Class, and it did not disappoint. Voted World’s Best Airline in 2018 by SkyTrax, Singapore Airlines consistently delivers on service, comfort, dining, and entertainment. Read our Singapore Airlines Business Class review on the Boeing 777-300ER from HKG to SFO, which is Singapore Airlines SQ 2, for all the details of this 12 hour flight.

Singapore Airlines Booking
We travel hacked our way into Singapore Airlines Business Class by redeeming Singapore KrisFlyer miles to purchase our tickets. We paid 63,750 KrisFlyer miles each and $83.73 in taxes and fees. We booked these flights much later than we typically do when planning a vacation using points and miles, so were not able to get the KrisFlyer Saver Award redemption rates. However, it still was a good value for a Singapore Air ticket in business class. The price we would have paid for our Singapore Airlines flight booking was $3,355.00 each. So we saved $6,542.55 between our two tickets.
Singapore Airlines recently changed the number of KrisFlyer miles required for redemption. Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is a transfer partner of Chase, American Express, Citi, Marriott Bonvoy and Capital One which makes it easier to rack up the miles needed for award bookings.
Singapore Airlines Business Class Check-in at HKG
Our check-in at Hong Kong International Airport was smooth and efficient. There is a dedicated line for Business Class passengers which means we didn’t have to wait, which is always nice. After checking our luggage, which we were entitled to 2 bags each, we made our way to the lounge.
Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge in Hong Kong
The SilverKris lounge for Singapore Airlines Business Class passengers in Hong Kong was small compared to the SilverKris lounge in Singapore.
There were several comfortable chairs, although it was very crowded when we were there.
The bar offered a good selection of wines and liquor, and there was also a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks and bottled water. Food offerings included fruit, salad, soup, several hot dishes, and dessert. We enjoyed a glass of wine but didn’t try any of the food before heading to the gate to board our SQ flight 2.
Singapore Airlines Business Class Cabin on Boeing 777-300ER
The business class cabin on the Boeing 777=300ER has 48 seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration allowing direct aisle access for every seat. There are four bathrooms for business class passengers at the rear of the cabin. Ample storage space exists between the overhead compartments and the space under the footrests large enough for a carry-on suitcase.
Singapore Boeing 777 Business Class Seats
The luxurious business class seats on the Singapore Boeing 777-300ER are spacious at 28” wide with a 55” pitch and upholstered in leather. Seats recline into 2 positions. The “lazy Z” is a cradling position that ensures your weight is centered and balanced when you’re sitting down. The “Sundeck” is a lounging position that extends the base and foot of your seat so you can stretch and rest your legs on the ottoman. When you want to sleep, the back of the seat folds forward into a completely flat bed with linen, duvet, and pillows. The headboard is cushioned and we’ve read complaints about the beds being too hard, but we were comfortable. The only slight drawback is that you have to get out of your seat and stand in aisle to make the seat into a bed, rather than just fully recline the seat.
Legroom for the seats is off to the side, which is not really a problem for short people. However, for tall people like Bertaut, it is not the most comfortable. That’s why we selected bulkhead seats for more legroom. We sat in seats 11D and 11F, the first row of the business class cabin.
You can see in photos below how there’s much more legroom for a bulkhead seat and it is straight ahead instead of to the side. With the Singapore Airlines seat selection policy, passengers in Business Class, First Class, and Suites can select their seats for free at the time of booking or later. If you’re able to select bulkhead seats, your seat feels like a first class seat!
Each seat has generous storage space, with compartments on the armrest, above the armrest, and next to the TV screen to store laptops, tablets, phones, and other small inflight necessities. We appreciated having space under the footrests for our carry-on luggage since it allowed us to access our bags even if the seatbelt sign was illuminated. However, there is still overhead storage if you need it.
KrisWorld Inflight Entertainment
KrisWorld inflight entertainment is one of the best we’ve enjoyed on long-haul flights. Business class seats have 18-inch HD enabled personal LCDs with a touchscreen remote and noise-cancelling headphones. There are over 1,000 options to entertain yourself, including movies, TV shows, games, apps, and music. We watched a few movies during our 12 hour flight while laying down comfortably in the bed. We also had 30MB of complimentary wifi during our flight as Business class passengers. Our seats had HDMI, USB, and eXport ports and power supply outlets to charge our devices during the flight, which was helpful.
Singapore Airlines Book the Cook
We would have been able to reserve our meals ahead of time with Singapore Airlines Book the Cook. This service is available on certain routes for Business Class, First Class, Suites and Premium Economy passengers. It is a really nice feature that gives you a much better selection of meals from various international cuisines, such as lobster thermidor and Chilean sea bass. We didn’t take advantage of it on this particular flight but I really wish we did because the options looked more appealing that what we were served. You can check out Book the Cook menus, which vary depending on the route and class, on Singapore Airline’s website here.
Singapore Airlines Menu for Business Class HKG to SFO
The Singapore Airlines food menu for Business Class from Hong Kong to San Francisco included supper, delectables (or light meals), and breakfast. We slept a lot during our 12 hour flight, but had time for supper and breakfast. We did not try any of the delectables. I’ve heard that supper is Singapore Air’s least impressive meal offering, which is perhaps why it was underwhelming.
Singapore Airlines Business Class Drink Menu
The extensive Singapore Airlines Business Class drinks menu includes a fantastic selection of cocktails, spirits, liqueurs, beer, wine, champagne, mocktails, mineral water, fruit juice, soft drinks, milk, tea and coffee. The champagne on offer was Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve. Wines included 2 reds- a Bordeaux and Chianti, 2 whites- Reisling and Macon, and a port from Portugal. The tea selection was the most impressive I’ve seen yet on an airline, with 16 different options. As a tea drinker, I was very excited to sip on the delicious in-house Jasmine tea. The coffee selection was also quite good with gourmet coffee from Ethiopia, Brazil and Guatemala, coffee blends, and several specialty coffees. Whatever you do, don’t miss the Singapore Airlines Singapore Sling- their signature cocktail and a sweet classic.
Singapore Airlines Business Class Meals
Our appetizer for supper was marinated sea whelk and black vinegared fish with Asian vegetable salad. For our main courses, I ordered the chicken panini with salad. Bertaut ordered the blanquette of veal in cream sauce with mushrooms, peas, carrots, and new potatoes. Dessert was chocolate and apricot spice mousse cake.
For breakfast we had fresh fruit for our appetizer and then tried the roast duck noodles with black mushroom and Chinese greens. To be honest, the food was decent but did not highly impressive for business class meals. I think we would have enjoyed our meals more if we had taken advantage of Book the Cook with many more options.
No Singapore Airlines Amenity Kit
Unfortunately flight attendants do not provide amenity kits on Singapore Airlines because they find that customers do not value them and they are wasteful. However, they do pass out slippers, socks and a sleeping mask in business class. Basic toiletries are also available in the bathroom, should you need them, such as dental kits, razors, lotion, and mouthwash.
Singapore Airlines Service
As usual for an airline renowned for its outstanding service, during our business class Singapore Airlines flight the service was fantastic. We received welcome glasses of champagne after boarding the flight as well as warm towels to clean our hands. The flight attendants were friendly and warm and quick to help us with anything we needed, such as preparing our beds for us or offering more champagne.
Singapore’s Boeing 777 vs. A380
Our family has been fortunate to fly business class on points on each type of plane in the Singapore Airlines fleet, including the A330, A350, A380, and B777. Many people ask, which is better, the A380 vs 777 for long-haul flights? Read our Singapore Airlines review of the A380 (which Bertaut flew with our son) to compare and contrast. He had bulkhead seats on both planes, so honestly both were exceptional, but Bertaut preferred the A380. It has 2 levels and felt more private thanks to the seats he selected which were partitioned off by themselves at the back of the cabin. Also, the seats fully recline into the bed position instead of folding forward into a bed, which makes it easier to transition. We absolutely would fly on both again, and hopefully will get the opportunity to review the new Singapore Airlines business class on the A380 in the near future.
Last words on Singapore Airlines Business Class 777 300ER Review
In conclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our flight on Singapore Airlines Business Class 777 300ER. Thanks to selecting bulkhead seats, we had extremely generous legroom and were able to sleep soundly in our lie-flat beds. Service was impeccable from our friendly flight crew. The meals were decent but not as impressive as what we were expecting for business class, likely because we flew late at night and their supper meal is less elaborate. We recommend using the Book the Cook service to enjoy more selections for meals, ordered in advance. We also appreciated having free wifi and a great selection of movies, TV shows and music on the inflight entertainment.
